Company diagnostic

Identifying your greatest opportunities

We offer a variety of services to assess your business situation and make recommendations for business improvement. These include benchmarking, operational assessment, extended supply chain mapping and value stream mapping

We believe that every company can make a significant business improvement to their current practices and through a company diagnostic we provide the skills and expertise to help you and your staff to identify those areas where the greatest benefit can be felt.

Benchmarking

If a company is to improve it firstly needs to understand how its current performance compares to best in class. We have over a decade of experience in providing benchmarking for our clients.

Our benchmarking serves a number of purposes:

  • to understand opportunities for improvement
  • to quantify the gaps between current and best in class performance
  • to provide a basis for business target setting
  • to enable the development of an improvement action plan

The company diagnostic process can look at a wide range of financial, service, manufacturing, maintenance, people and other aspects of the business both in terms of performance levels and also working practices. Our expertise lies in interpreting the benchmark.

Operational assessment

We believe that there is a direct correlation between the practices an organisation employs and the results they achieve. Our operational assessment will review the practices the organisation utilises against 12 key areas.

The aim of the company diagnostic assessment is to determine:

  • any defects, gaps and areas of risk
  • the reliability of the operations, processes and systems
  • the management practices affecting performance
  • how the people are engaged, operate and strive for future success
  • the potential for improvement within the organisation

We have a variety of skills and tools at our disposal to assess your company's current performance in terms of productivity, efficiency, health and safety and profitability.

Supply chain

Applying Lean Improvement techniques to your own business is just one element. If your organisation operates as part of a wider supply chain, there are further changes which can be made to facilitate streamlining and reduce costs. We have worked with a number of companies, including Procter & Gamble, in optimising their supply chains.

Working with a group of supply chain partners including customers, suppliers and third party logistic operations, we can help facilitate a cross-organisational expanded mapping activity to identify waste within the supply chain and the associated costs involved.

During this activity we will review every aspect of the supply chain including forecasting, procurement, production, maintenance, warehousing, distribution, finance invoicing and returns as well as managing relationships with suppliers. Our recommendations lead to improved flow throughout the entire chain and a reduction in manufacturing, transportation and distribution costs.

Value stream mapping

Through Value Stream Mapping (VSM) we will work with cross-functional teams to look at manufacturing and supply processes an organisation employs to deliver its service or product. This mapping activity will help the organisation understand, analyse, plan and deliver significant business improvement through the elimination of waste, or process optimisation.

Whether in the service, public or manufacturing sectors, we have experience of undertaking diagnostic activities most suited to customer requirements. Whichever diagnostic solution is required, we will identify prioritised areas for business improvement and develop a costed implementation plan.
